BergeracwillbebasedontheoriginalseriescreatedbyRobertBanksStewart,whichstarredJohnNettlesandranfornineseriesontheBBCbetween1981and1991.Themodernre-imaginingwillhonourtheiconicdetectivedrama,butwithacontemporarytwist,asBergeracthrownintoaknotty,high-stakespoliceinvestigationandchallengedtohisverycore.Hewillbeforcedtoconfronthisdemons,whiletryingtosavehisfamilyandcareer.Unliketheoriginalhitfromthe80s,thenewserieswillseeonecharacter-ledmurdermysteryrunacrossallsixepisodes,inplaceofanewstorylineeachepisode.
